In 2016, Dan hiked the Northville Placid Trail and undertook a 50 mile hike in August of 2018 to raise funds for ADK Hike for Hope • Dan lives in North Hudson and Adirondack Hike for Hope is a charity project that raises funds for prostate cancer research project with a larger goal of raising awareness about prostate cancer in general, the second biggest killer on men in the US. The funds currently raised are for the Metastatic Prostate Cancer Project, a nationwide genomic research study for men with advanced or metastatic prostate cancer that wants to generate the most comprehensive genetic database that will be shared with the entire research community - to accelerate important and potentially lifesaving discoveries. The research team is lead by Dan's oncologist Dr. Eliezer Van Allen at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
